Product Description

 Air Horn® is a Microsoft Windows XP application developed to address the increased demand to enhance operation realism for the all-scale model railroad enthusiast.  Air Horn® can be used to play virtually any environmental event or model railroad sound to enhance the railroading experience from common off-the-shelf PC’s or laptops, and inexpensive desktop speakers.

The Air Horn® playback engine uses common sound file formats fueled by a rich collection of sound files available from the program download site, with an even larger selection from multiple sources on the web.  Want something customized for you layout?  Air Horn® supports the use custom recorded sound files you create or record from a microphone-equipped PC or digital recorder.

Air Horn® let’s you import and use your sound files for a truly personal railroading experience. Using sound perspective of where the sound is coming from the point-of-view of the observer from some distance, Air Horn® provides the means to fully integrate a realistically detailed sound system to a free-lance or prototype railroad layout that is simple, portable and economical to set up and use, requiring a minimum of investment or technical know-how.  Ideal for adding super detailing attributes to scale models, dioramas and layouts, Air Horn® is flexible and customizable, letting you add sounds where they need to be “in the real world” regardless of the scale or listening perspective.  For layout operations or club operating sessions, Air Horn® comes with a large variety of pre-packaged, ready to roll sounds used in environmental, yards, main line and various industries ready to be played in real time, regardless of the “clock” used.  Simple and realistic, Air Horn® provides the most affordable and scalable environmental sound controller on the market!

  • Supports popular PC sound file formats (wav, mp3, wma) for flexible playback options, including mixed formats.
  • Allows you to create multiple “20-soundscape” schemes to support different layout environments and operating modes at the click of a mouse.
  • Record your own sounds for a custom or prototypical experience or use the extensive sounds included with the application and on the web.
  • Supports multiple sound cards (up to 4) in the same PC for multiple speaker placement around the layout.
  • Allows individual sound clips to be assigned to keystrokes for quick and easy activation.
  • Allows you to set volume, left/right, front/back sound direction and output device, with sound loop playback properties for each sound clip.
  • Sounds play “in the background” while other programs run on the PC
